OVERVIEW

Kristin J. Moody's practice focuses on securities litigation.  She has successfully litigated numerous class actions that have resulted in substantial settlements for defrauded investors.


Prior to joining Berman DeValerio, Ms. Moody practiced at Holland & Knight, LLP in Boston and Morrison & Foerster, LLP in San Francisco where she represented clients in white-collar criminal matters and complex civil litigation, including securities litigation.  Ms. Moody has also represented clients in a number of pro bono matters, including discrimination and political asylum cases.

 

While in law school, Ms. Moody was Notes and Comments Editor of the Boston College International and Comparative Law Review. Ms. Moody has published several articles in the areas of accounting fraud, securities class actions and derivative suits. Ms. Moody has also taught Business Law at Fisher College and is a member of the Fisher College Advisory Board.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Currently representing lead plaintiff in In re General Electric Co. Securities Litigation.  Investigated and drafted consolidated amended complaint, drafted opposition to motions to dismiss, and currently conducting discovery.
  • Managed litigation, coordinated and conducted discovery, counseled clients and participated in mediation in In re Force Protection Securities Litigation, which settled for $24 million.
  • Coordinated and conducted discovery, counseled client and participated in mediation in litigation against International Rectifier Corp. and several of its former officers and directors, which settled for $90 million.
  • Participated in motion to dismiss briefing and mediation in In re American Home Mortgage Securities Litigation, which settled for $37.25 million, despite the difficulties American Home's bankruptcy posed to asset recovery.
