A class action is a lawsuit brought on behalf of a large number of people with the same legal problem. A class action typically is pursued when it is impractical or unfeasible to file a lot of small individual complaints.

Over the years, people have relied on class actions to assert rights against powerful corporations and government agencies. Class-action lawsuits played an important role in the U.S. Civil Rights movement of the 1960s; more recently they have been used to recover damages for securities fraud from companies such as Cendant Corporation, Centennial Technologies Inc., and Waste Management Inc. Class actions have also been used to seek redress for victims of the Nazi Holocaust and against tobacco companies and, most recently, on behalf of owners of defective tires. Berman DeValerio files class actions primarily in two areas: securities fraud and antitrust violations.

We have gathered some frequently asked questions about class actions, securities class actions, and antitrust class actions. Please use them as a starting point to learn more about these types of cases. Be advised, however, that they do not constitute legal advice of any kind.
